Ottawa – The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has suspended the operating licence of Establishment 659, Northern Natural Processing L.P., effective July 10, 2014. Northern Natural Processing L.P. is a beef slaughter establishment located in Neudorf, Saskatchewan.
The licence was suspended because the operator failed to implement corrective measures required by regulation to ensure the safety of the meat products produced at the establishment.
The CFIA has determined adequate controls for food safety were not being reliably implemented in the facility on a consistent basis.
Establishment 659 will not be permitted to resume operations until the necessary corrective measures have been implemented and the CFIA is fully confident in the plant's capacity to effectively manage food safety risks.
Licences and registrations of federally registered establishments or companies can be suspended or cancelled for failing to comply with relevant CFIA Acts and Regulations.
