On September 30, 2018, Danziger Innovations, an Israeli Ag-bio-Tech company, and ToolGen (CEO Kim Jongmoon, KONEX 199800), a Korean genome editing technology company signed an MOU to promote a technological alliance for development of genome edited plant crops on September 30, 2018.
ToolGen is a biotech company with fundamental CRISPR/Cas9 technology IP . CRISPR/Cas9 is a promising platform technology in the field of agriculture. Toolgen and Monsanto, the largest agricultural company in the world, recently reached a global licensing agreement for the use of ToolGen’s CRISPR technology platform to develop agricultural products.
Danziger Innovations, a genome editing ag-biotech company, holds IP on viral delivery systems for genome editing reagents. Danziger Innovations is part of the Danziger Group, renowned mainly as an Israeli based global floriculture company. which creates and develops innovative plant crop varieties with superior characteristics, such as, high yield, pest resistance and tolerance to environmental stress factors.
Through this MOU, the two companies will jointly develop technology platforms for generating genome edited crops and actively cooperate to commercialize them in the global market for the benefit of both companies and the entire agriculture industry.
"Danziger Innovations is a company with strengths in the field of delivering CRISPR/Cas9 into crops and can build a strong global competitiveness by combining with the technology of CRISPR/Cas9 from ToolGen", said Kim Jong-moon, CEO of ToolGen, “It will be a great help for ToolGen’s ongoing global green-bio (agricultural) business plan.
"We are very happy to announce this collaboration with Toolgen. Toolgen specializes in developing genome editing reagents based on CRISPR/Cas9. We believe that joining our complementary technologies further advances the relevance of genome editing for breeding of new varieties”, says Hanne Volpin, deputy CEO of Danziger Innovations, “we are confident that this collaboration will rapidly lead to the creation of crops with new, valuable traits.
