CEDAR — Michelle Shackelford grows a huge variety of flowers on ¾ acre along M-72. But few people notice.
"Flower farms aren't a pretty as people think they're going to be," she said. "You're pulling things out before they bloom."
She nurtures her annual crop of 400 varieties and colors of flowers — including zinnias, cosmos, dahlias, daffodils, tulips and alliums — then sells them just before they bloom through her business, Leelanau Specialty Cut Flowers.
