Homestead, Fla. – Silver Vase has added QR (quick response) codes to its plant tags, one of the first in the industry to do so. The technology gives consumers access to additional information like plant care quickly by snapping specific matrix barcodes with their camera phones.
“QR codes are a quick, easy way for consumers to gain more information on caring for our quality orchids and bromeliads,” said Silver Vase CEO Andrew Bartha. “By helping consumers be more successful with the plants they buy, we encourage them to continue looking to the horticulture industry for gifts, decoration or simply a treat for themselves.”
Popular overseas for years, QR codes were originally used by vehicle manufacturers looking for easy parts tracking and now have a wide variety of convenience and commercial tracking applications.
“Simply snapping our tags’ QR codes takes consumers to our web site for detailed plant care information on orchids, bromeliads and our popular Blue Mystique blue orchid,” said Bartha. “Knowing today’s consumer is short on time, we’re making horticulture easier.”
Silver Vase’s tags with QR codes are shipping with plants now and can be seen on retail shelves throughout North America.
