Armed with buckets of donated flowers and a little more elbow room, a team of volunteers at the recently expanded Random Acts of Flowers facility is working toward delivering the organization’s 50,000th floral arrangement to area health care facilities.
The nonprofit, founded in 2008, has combined its national headquarters and Knoxville branch operations into a larger office and warehouse space at 3500 Workman Road. A grand reopening event that’s open to the public will be held from 5-8 p.m. today.
Its mission is to collect donated flowers from weddings, memorial services, florists, special events, grocery stores and churches, and repurpose them into bouquets for delivery to patients in area hospitals, nursing homes and hospice care centers.
