Outlook Rosy As David Austin Still Blooming At 90

“It’s always been my dream, ever since I was a youngster, to create a new, more beautiful breed of rose, but I didn’t think I would ever achieve it,” says the 90-year-old.
Every day he walks through an avenue of rose-covered pergolas from the idyllic family home his grandmother lived in to his greenhouses a short distance away.
This year he got the royal seal of approval when he met the Queen at the Chelsea Flower Show.
“My son introduced me, and said ‘you’re both 90 and both still working’,” he says. “She laughed and said it must have been a vintage year.”
