Michelle Altenberg Joins American Floral Endowment

ALEXANDRIA, VA – The American Floral Endowment (AFE) is pleased to announce Michelle Altenberg as its new communications specialist. Altenberg will work closely with AFE Executive Director Debi Aker on media relations, social media, the quarterly bulletin, donor cultivation and website management.

"I am very excited to be a part of this dynamic team working to advance the floriculture and environmental horticulture industries," Altenberg said.

Prior to joining the American Floral Endowment, Altenberg served as the social media and communications coordinator at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. During her tenure, the nonprofit was ranked number two in the world for "Best Use of Social Networks" by the University of Pennsylvania's Global Go-To Think Tank Index, a move up from the previous year's number six ranking. She has also worked in external relations at the World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth and the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C.

A native Texan, Altenberg graduated from Texas Christian University with a degree in strategic communication and a certificate in international studies. When not working to deepen her knowledge of the communications field, she enjoys traveling, cooking and doing yoga.
