Mayesh Wholesale Florist, Inc. has signed an agreement to build a solar energy project at its 42,000 square foot refrigerated facility in Riverside, California. The project will generate 210,280 KwH of power in the first year and will dramatically reduce energy consumption and electricity cost for the distributor of fresh cut flowers.
CEO Patrick Dahlson said, “We participate in an industry which is increasingly concerned with environmental issues. As such, it is incumbent on us to be a good corporate citizen. Our solar project in Riverside is good for Mayesh, good for the environment and we are happy to be able to make this investment.”
Mayesh operates 15 distribution facilities in seven states and supplies fresh cut flowers to retail florists and event companies in all 50 states. The Riverside solar project will be operational by the fourth quarter of 2013 and is the first of what Mayesh expects to be several similar projects to help reduce its carbon footprint.
