WAILUKU – Members of the Maui Flower Growers' Association who attended and worked at the 2012 Philadelphia Flower Show were presented a certificate of outstanding achievement by Mayor Alan Arakawa last month.
The growers raised awareness about Maui's locally grown flowers at the show, which had the theme of "Hawai'i, Islands of Aloha." The show featured a Hawaii marketplace that showcased Hawaii-made products, flowers and cultural crafts from around the state. Other Maui County businesses showed off their wares at the event.
Maui County's effort was led by Teena Rasmussen, the county's economic development coordinator.
The association is a nonprofit dedicated to promoting Maui's flower-growing industry in retail and wholesale markets across the United States.
