EAGLE POINT, Ore. — The goal was to help local florists, but a bill sitting on Governor John Kitzhaber's desk may actually end up hurting other Oregon companies.
Oregon lawmakers sent a bill to the Governor to help local florists by ending price gouging and deceptive advertising on the part of floral order facilitators. Facilitators are the companies that link consumers in one city to florists in another.
Order facilitators like FloralSource International in Eagle Point says if the bill gets the Governor's signature it would have to move out of Oregon. That would come at a cost of 46 full time jobs and 40 more seasonal jobs.
