It’s time to dust off that Survivor album and start blasting “Eye of the Tiger” once again, because Koehler & Dramm’s 2015 Designer of the Year Competition is right around the corner! As usual, we will have both a professional level category and a student level category, so designers at all stages of their careers are welcome and encouraged to participate.
The Student competition and the first round of the Professional competition will be held at Koehler & Dramm’s Color Outside the Lines design show on Tuesday, January 27th. (We will be showing you how to push the creative boundaries of several of Pantone’s 2015 Spring and Summer Color Trends, and how to use the Color of the Year throughout your designs, so this is a show you won’t want to miss!) The first and second place winners of the Student competition and the six finalists of the Professional competition will be announced at the Color Outside the Lines show. The six professional finalists will move on to the second round of the Professional Competition, which will be an on-stage head-to-head showdown at the 2015 Minneapolis Home and Garden Show on February 28th.
The theme for this year’s Professional Competition is Classic Games.
Recreate the warmth and nostalgia of Family Game Night in flowers, using classic board games like Monopoly, LIFE, Scrabble, Trouble, and others as your reference and inspiration. What games did you play as a child? Take us back in time with your floral designs to the classic games we all know and love.

The theme for this year’s Student Competition is Futuristic Games.
Use your imagination and bring us into the entertainment and gaming world of the future.
Electronic games are already prevalent, but how do you interpret the world of virtual gaming in flowers? Use technology, electronics, virtual and simulated reality, and wearable gaming technology as your inspiration, and show us what fun looks like in the future with your floral designs!
