The Association of Specialty Cut Flower Growers (ASCFG) will hold its 2012 Northeast Regional Meeting on Monday, March 26 in Amherst, Massachusetts. This meeting will bring together cut flower growers from New England and across the Northeast.
The morning session will include a tour of lily production at Montgomery Rose in North Hadley, as well as a workshop on tractor tools. Other workshops will cover tool sharpening skills, and body mechanics and injury prevention.
An afternoon tour of Andrew’s Greenhouse will feature a pest management system which uses biological control. Tina Smith of UMass extension will provide an update on hoophouse pest management.
Specialty cut flower production is a rewarding farm enterprise. Just as the interest for local food is growing, now is a great time for specialty cut flower producers. Consumers, florists and wholesalers are delighted to find the incredible selection of fresh cut flowers produced by local growers.
