FLORAHOLLAND – The Bleiswijk Marketplace Event is happening again on Tuesday 11 and Wednesday 12 October 2011, organized by the Association of Florist-Shop Owners (VBW), wholesale center Terra Bleiswijk and flower auction FloraHolland. The event theme this time is 100% Passion, which refers especially to the passion that florists, retailers, garden centers and growers have for their craft. We will also be marking FloraHolland's centenary at the event. On both evenings, proceedings will run from 5:00pm to 10:00pm at wholesale center Terra Bleiswijk.
The various activities organized at this marketplace event all have in common the idea of 100% Passion. Celebrated flower arranger Diny Blom will be giving flower-arrangement masterclasses “for Professionals with Passion”, in which fellow professionals will each be making a creation for the head, throat or shoulder. Growers will be exhibiting a range of floricultural plants and bringing the products to life with their passionate stories. New floricultural varieties, too, will be on show at FloraHolland's New Products Plaza.
Hanneke Frankema and Miranda ter Voorde, both renowned flower arrangers, will be giving several flower-arrangement demonstrations on the two evenings. Finally, visitors can draw inspiration from the “Passion is the florist's added value” workshop by Marc Eijsackers, FloraHolland's Marketing Manager.
A look back in time
Seizing upon FloraHolland's centenary, we will be reviving — for one time only — FloraHolland' Bleiswijk's historic Gouden Berkelknop competition, which is a test of whether the players can manage to get the clock to stop at a prearranged price. The heats are on the first evening of the Marketplace Event, 11 October, at 7:00pm and 8:30pm, while the final will get underway at 8:00pm on Wednesday 12th. There are great prizes to be won: an iPad, a lens-reflex camera and an e-reader.
All companies located in the wholesale center will be open on both evenings, so the center's customers can do their purchasing directly. Access is free for fellow professionals. More information is available at www.terrableiswijk.nl , where visitors can also register their attendance and pre-book for the masterclass and the Gouden Berkelknop competition.
