Websterville, Vt. – The eight awards Vermont Creamery received at the 2014 World Cheese Awards in London on November 14 tipped the cheesemaker's award tally to a fitting 30 in 2014-the company's 30th anniversary year.
Vermont Creamery won eight awards at the World Cheese Awards last week. The big winner was, once again, little Bijou, which added a gold to its impressive collection of wins in 2014, including first place at the American Cheese Society Competition and a gold sofi from the Specialty Food Association. French for "little gem," Bijou has earned its place as the crown jewel of Vermont Creamery's aged cheese line this year.
The World Cheese Awards took place at the BBC Good Food Show in London on November 14, 2014. Over 3,000 entries were judged by 250 experts from around the world, making the World Cheese Awards the largest and most comprehensive cheese competition in the industry.
These most recent wins bring Vermont Creamery's total tally for 2014 to 30, a fitting number to cap the Creamery's yearlong 30th anniversary celebration. Wins for the Creamery spanned the entire product line, including fresh and aged goat cheese, cultured butter, and crème fraîche. Additionally, the company earned recognition for its corporate culture and socially responsible business practices from B Labs and Whole Foods Market.
"It feels almost serendipitous to have received exactly 30 awards in our 30th year," said Vermont Creamery co-founders and co-owners, Bob Reese and Allison Hooper. "It's incredibly humbling to earn that kind of recognition from our peers in the industry, and it's a real testament to the passion, dedication and hard work of our cheesemaking team here in Vermont. We really could not have asked for a better finale to our 30th year."
