The International Best Cheesemonger Will Be Elected In Tours

TOURS – During ’The International Cheese Tours’ in the Loire Valley, from 1 to 3 June 2013, at the Vinci Congress Centre, the “International Best Cheesemonger Contest” will be organized. Flagship event, this contest will provide an opportunity for candidates selected to show off their know-how and creativity in a series of challenging tests.
`This competition, the highlight of our meeting, will give cheesemongers the opportunity to showcase their products and knowledge in front of an international audience and show the importance of an entire sector," says Denis Schwok, President and CEO of Tours Événements. "It will be an essential element of attractiveness, and challenging tests will emphasize creativity, courage and professionalism of the participants," he continues.
Chaired by Jean-Marie Panazol, Senior Civil Servant at the Department for National Education, the competition aims to be as fair to all, both by the possibility of winning than participate. So, it’s open to all French and foreign cheesemongers, retailer cheesemongers, cheesemongers in restaurants, all the persons involved in the dairy products sector, producers and converters.
The tests involved will focus on professional know-how, cheese-making technologies, knowledge of cheeses and dairy products, the Cheesemonger’s Art, his ability to select and highlight his products, and to promote and uphold cheeses, dairy products and the various professions exercised in the cheese-production sector.
Candidates will be selected on the merits of the applications they submit before the February 15th, 2013. Sixteen Zinalist candidates will be selected by the Jury, composed of top cheese-makers and other international names recognised for their professional expertise.
"This competition will showcase through the art of cheese, the involvement and importance of an entire sector," declares Denis Schwok, “Products” contests will also be held over the same period.
Remember that the Organization is based on the competences and the experience of its Adviser-Expert Mr. Rodolphe Le Meunier, Cheesemonger World Champion in 2007 and “Meilleur Ouvrier de France“, as well as on the partnership of key actors of the sector such as the International Cheese Guild, the magazine “Profession fromager“, l'IEHCA… or institutional partners.
