For a second year in a row, Sequatchie Cove Creamery's Dancing Fern cheese has been awarded recognition in the Farmstead cheese category at the American Cheese Society's annual competition, last year winning first place and this year taking home third place. In an effort to support the artisan and specialty cheese industry in North America, ACS holds a competition to not only provide technical feedback to artisan cheese makers, but also bring awareness to the scientific and precise art of cheese making.

"Dancing Fern cheese has competed well two years in a row, being judged through objective lenses as much as possible," said Nathan Arnold, head cheese maker for Sequatchie Cove Creamery.  "The same cheese placing in the same category doesn't happen often, and we are seeing this recognition played out by the increase in demand for Dancing Fern cheese.  To meet this demand, we've expanded our herd for a more consistent offering this year."

Sequatchie Cove Creamery will participate in the Southern Cheese Festival in Nashville on Sept. 28 to reinforce Dancing Fern's recognition and to kick off National Cheese Month. For more details, visit www.southerncheesefest.com.
