Jim “The Rookie” Morris, who rose from 35-year-old high school teacher to flame-throwing major league pitcher in 3 months, will kick off the RFA’s Annual Conference in Tampa, FL this coming winter. Morris’ story made cinematic history with the release of ‘The Rookie’ starring Dennis Quaid, and he is currently an in-demand speaker inspiring and encouraging audiences around the globe. Following Morris’ keynote presentation is RFA’s Technical Director, Martin Mitchell, delivering his Technical Update and sharing up-to-the-minute information on food safety and regulatory compliance under FSMA.
The RFA is proud to present Michael W. Hewett, Director of Environmental and Sustainability Programs at Publix Super Markets, who will share with the Conference audience what he has learned in over twenty years of experience in environmental management, including regulatory compliance and sustainability programs. A High Pressure Processing Panel, featuring renowned experts Mark Duffy, President of Universal Pure and Joyce Longfield of Good Foods/ Cold Pressure Council, will provide a deep dive into the intricacies of High Pressure Pasteurization. The RFA Technical Committee is proud to present guest speakers Dr. Keith R. Schneider and Doug Larcher of the University of Florida, who will talk with the group about the Food Recall Handbook. Dick Finnegan, world-renowned expert on Employee Retention & Engagement, will share his insights with the group by utilizing concrete data, insight and humor. Sarah Schmansky of Nielsen Fresh will provide up-to-the-minute insights into industry trends and share what is on the horizon for refrigerated foods. And lastly, the RFA is honored to present Patricia A. Wester, CEO of AFSAP, who will be joined by a representative from the FDA to address FSMA 101 with the Conference audience.
The RFA’s 2019 Conference will include a full Exhibit Hall, featuring the latest in packaging, equipment, ingredients and services for the industry, as well as great networking opportunities and fun social events. There will be a Golf Tournament, taking place at the prestigious TPC Golf Club of Tampa, and a closing banquet at the Florida Aquarium, which will include a live auction. Attendees will also be given the opportunity to give back to our host city by participating in an afternoon of painting. Completed artwork will be donated to Shriners Hospital for Children in Tampa, with help from the Foundation for Hospital Art (www.HospitalArt.org). A spouse event will also be offered at no cost to anyone joining his or her significant other at the event in Tampa.
