Public Invited To Taste World's Best Cheeses At Champion Cheese Charity Event

MADISON, Wis. – The World Championship Cheese Contest is coming to town, and with it, an exclusive opportunity for the public to taste 50 of the world’s best cheeses and witness 50 judges from six continents execute the final round of judging to determine the 2014 World Champion Cheese.

On Wednesday, March 19, the World Championship Cheese Contest and Wisconsin Cheese Originals welcome the public to the Exhibition Hall at Monona Terrace in Madison for the Champion Cheese Charity Event – A Benefit for Second Harvest Foodbank. Tickets are $35 and will be sold in advance at www.cheesecontest.com.  A portion of ticket proceeds will be donated to Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin with the hosts guaranteeing a donation of at least $10,000 to Second Harvest that evening. Attendance will be capped at 600 persons.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with the Championship Round of Judging to start at 7 p.m.  Attendees will witness the final round of cheese judging, as judges determine and name the best-of-show, 2014 World Champion Cheese. In addition, 50 of the world’s best and most rare cheeses will be sampled until 9 p.m. Complimentary appetizers will be served and a cash bar available.

Cheeses for the evening are rare international finds, entrants in the 30th biennial World Championship Cheese Contest. These cheeses will be fresh from the judges’ evaluation, arriving from nations such as Argentina, Australia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. Fans of great cheese can also visit, free, the first round of judging in the Contest, March 18 in the Exhibit Hall at Monona Terrace from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
