THE WOODLANDS, TX and NEW YORK – The Kroger Southwest Division and Murray’s Cheese have teamed up to introduce Murray’s Cheese to greater Houston. Through the exclusive partnership, the first shop in The Woodlands has opened at the Kroger store located on Research Forest Drive. Additional shops are in operation at Kroger stores located in River Oaks, West University, the Heights and Sugar Land.
“The Woodlands is known for its love of food,” says Bill Breetz, president of Kroger’s Southwest Division. “Through the opening of the new shops we are able to introduce our customers to an impressive variety of cheeses that have not been available locally until now for their cooking and entertaining needs, and personal enjoyment.”
The Murray's shops look much like the Murray's Cheese Greenwich Village flagship store in New York City (254 Bleecker St.) and they carry many of the same products. The Murray’s shops offer more than 400 specialty foods, including cheese, cured meat, antipasto, olives, crackers, dried fruit and nuts, and other grocery items. The new shops provide Murray’s well-known customer service and education, coupled with their practices of “try it before you buy it” and hosting food producers in the shop. The shops are managed by cheesemasters who have been trained by Murray’s.
Greater Houston is part of a multi-divisional partnership of 50 cut-and-wrap specialty cheese departments in Kroger stores nationwide. Currently, Murray’s shops can be found in Kroger stores in Cincinnati, Atlanta, Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Denver, Huntsville, AL, and Knoxville, TN. Shops are featured at the following Houston-area Kroger locations:
· River Oaks: 1938 West Gray Houston, TX 77019 (Opened: October 2010)
· West University: 5150 Buffalo Speedway Houston, TX 77005 (Opened: December 2010)

“We are thrilled to be expanding to The Woodlands,” says Murray’s President Rob Kaufelt. “Since the launch of our partnership with Kroger, more people have been able to enjoy our wide selection of specialty cheeses at competitive prices not found anywhere else.”
