LINDSAY – Mariposa Dairy continues to win prestigious international awards for its cheeses.
At the American Cheese Society, one of the largest cheese competitions in North America, the Lindsay-based company’s sheep cheese, Tania, won top award for the third year in a row. The chevre wins awards each year and this year two of the newest flavours, apple cinnamon and chocolate cherry, swept first and second prize.
Mariposa Dairy sent both its Tania, the sheep milk cheese, and Lindsay Bandaged Goat cheddar to the International Cheese Awards, held last week in Nantwich, United Kingdom. They both won ribbons in their respective categories allowing Mariposa Dairy to win the overall Canadian cheese award.
The event, held in Nantwich, England, featured nearly 4,500 cheeses, making it one of the largest competitions in the world.
