LISLE, III. – Kretschmar® Premium Deli Meats & Cheeses has partnered with Coborn's Inc. supermarkets to help Make-A-Wish® Minnesota make wishes come true for children battling life-threatening illnesses. Now through May 14, shoppers at participating Coborn's stores across Minnesota can help by purchasing a $1 or $5 Make-A-Wish star at the cash register.
"Coborn's is passionately devoted to inspiring happiness and strengthening our community through partnerships with great brands like Kretschmar," said Kevin Hurd, Communications and Engagement Specialist. "We are thrilled to help empower our guests and employees to champion a great cause like Make-A-Wish Minnesota."
Additionally, deli customers can support the Make-A-Wish Minnesota by purchasing Kretschmar Make-A-Wish Hero Club Sandwiches. A portion of these sales will help grant the wishes of local children like Jackson, a seven-year-old boy battling Duchene muscular dystrophy. His wish is to have a golf cart, so he can ride on trails and explore the great outdoors.
"Everyone at Kretschmar is grateful for Make-A-Wish and their efforts to grant wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions," said Michael Baughman, Smithfield Foods director of marketing. "We appreciate Coborn's partnership in support of such a worthwhile organization, and appreciate all of the shoppers who contribute to a great cause while they are at the store."
Since 2012, Kretschmar has contributed more than $600,000 to Make-A-Wish nationally and sponsored more than 12 wishes with local chapters through its Legendary Wishes campaign.
Most recently, the brand sent a young theme park lover to his favorite Orlando, Fla. theme park. Four-year-old Miller experienced the trip of his dreams; he and his family were surrounded by their favorite cartoon characters and theme park rides.
Through partnerships with retailers like Coborn's, Kretschmar has raised more than $85,000 through sales of Make-A-Wish paper stars sold at stores' registers for $1 donations, employee donations, and sandwich fundraisers. The brand gives these funds to local Make-A-Wish chapters to grant more wishes.

About Make-A-Wish Minnesota
Thirty-five years and 5,000 wishes later, Make-A-Wish Minnesota is local and we are here to stay with your support! From granting four wishes in our first year, to granting more than 250 last year, we have come a long way, but our work is not over yet. We're lighting a spark within our organization and our community to grant a wish for every eligible child because we know wishes matter. According to a 2011 U.S. study of wish impact, most health professionals surveyed believe a wish-come-true can influence the health of children. Kids say wishes give them renewed strength to fight their illnesses, and their parents say these experiences help strengthen the entire family.
