BEAVERTON, OR – Beaverton Foods, Inc. recently received a certificate by Progressive Grocer magazine announcing that its Inglehoffer Honey Maple Mustard was honored as an “Editor’s Pick” in the Center Store Category.
The mustard, introduced to the US market about a year ago, also earned a Gold Award at the 17th annual “World-Wide Mustard Competition” held at the National Mustard Museum in Middleton, Wisconsin in April. It competed with 350 mustard entries from around the globe.
Domonic Biggi, President of Beaverton Foods, called this newer mustard a ‘hidden gem’.
“Inglehoffer Honey Maple Mustard is a hidden gem in the Inglehoffer family of mustards,” Biggi said. “It’s very gratifying to have Progressive Grocer recognize the uniqueness of this item.”
In the letter signed by the trade magazine’s Editor-in-Chief Meg Major, it stated: “Progressive Grocer is pleased to honor your product as being the year’s most original, engaging and downright fun retail item. As in years past, we faced the tough challenge of choosing the best of the best from a range of companies across all store categories. It was no easy feat selecting top products in terms of innovation, taste/functionality and value.”
According to a recent study, the $70 billion specialty food industry is growing in spite of tough economic conditions. The research provided by the National Association for the Specialty Food Trade, Inc. (NASFT) revealed 59 percent of consumers are purchasing specialty foods this year. NASFT VP of Communications and Education Ron Tanner noted: “Specialty foods like … creative condiments have become an integral part of the culinary landscape and consumers continue to enjoy them.”
