NORTHPORT, Mich. — Idyll Farms, a sustainable, pasture-based farmstead goat creamery located in Northport, Michigan, received seven awards at the 2017 American Cheese Society (ACS) Conference, the most of any goat cheese producer in North America.
Of the more than 2,000 cheeses submitted to the 34th annual competition in Denver, Colorado on July 26-29, 2017, Idyll Farms' Idyll Gris and Idyll Farms Spreadable Pastures cheeses placed first place in three categories, and Mont Idyll, Ricotta and Idyllweiss placed second place in three additional categories. Mont Idyll also received a third place in another category.
"I feel like what just happened in the cheese world would be the equivalent of us beating out Meryl Streep at the Oscars…seven times!" said Amy Spitznagel, Owner and Co-Founder of Idyll Farms. "Our competition has been doing this for decades, and we are only in our fifth year of production. We are truly grateful for the recognition, proud of what we have done, and look forward to maintaining and improving our high standards."
