When Bamboozle won the blue ribbon at the American Cheese Society in Richmond, Va., last month, and its proud owner smiled for the cameras, it is easy to guess what she said.
India Loevner was over the moon. It was a long award ceremony, and the winners for the Washed Rind Open Category for cheeses aged more than 60 days and made from mixed milks were not announced until almost the very end.
“I was keeping my fingers crossed throughout, and when I heard Bamboozle won the first place, I was thrilled,” she recalls sitting in her “office” by the cheese-making room at her Goat Rodeo Farm & Dairy in Indiana Township. Last year, it won second place in the Washed Rind Open Category for cheeses aged more than 60 days and made with goat’s milk.
