SAINT-ANTOINE-DE-TILLY, QC – Fromagerie Bergeron is thrilled to announce that six of its cheeses were singled out among some of the finest cheeses in Canada at the 90th edition of the British Empire Cheese Competition held in Belleville, Ontario. Prizes for the 2017 competition were awarded on Friday, November 3, 2017 aboard the cruise ship Yankee Lady IV.

"I am proud of this honour which really underscores the incredible work of our staff. It's a success that speaks volumes about their passion and their vital collaboration!" says Roger Bergeron, CEO of Fromagerie Bergeron.

Bergeron's Louis Cyr cheese took first prize in the firm cheese category. This cheese displays an abundance of umami flavour and the milk used to make it is always painstakingly selected from among the milk producers the cheesemaker works with. The many distinctions this delicious, strong cheese has earned over the years is testimony to how widely it is appreciated, with the kind of character that ranks it among the very finest cheeses in Canada.

In the same category, Bergeron Classique took second prize. With its distinctive red wax coating, it is the very first cheese in the Bergeron lineage and an iconic Fromagerie Bergeron product. An unassailable classic that's a winner in the hearts of consumers as well as in the marketplace.

The Calumet variety won first prize in the flavoured firm cheese category. This naturally smoked cheese is widely regarded for its very well-balanced flavour.

In the same category, Coureur des Bois took third place. This cheese is made with added cumin that is uniformly distributed and perfectly flavours the cheese.

The Seigneur de Tilly variety took top honours among the light cheeses. One of the first Bergeron cheeses to carve out a choice niche for itself in the marketplace, it is prized for its flavour as well as for being low in fat.

In the same category, Six Pourcent cheese took third place. It's the company's flagship light cheese with only six percent fat as its name indicates.

The results speak for themselves! Fromagerie Bergeron is renowned for the quality of its cheeses. By setting the highest standards for the manufacture of its products, the company is well-positioned to meet the needs of its customers. To be able to stand out among so many excellent cheeses is a thing of pride for the company.
