The Extra-aged Piave PDO cheese, aged at least 12 months and defined as “Selezione Oro” in the Production Regulations set by the European Community, has been awarded two golden stars at the most recent Superior Taste Award, which took place last April in Brussels (Belgium).
A panel of Michelin starred chefs, selected within a Jury of 64 members, has tasted the Italian mountain cheese and evaluated its flavor and texture. The chefs’ refined taste buds were genuinely impressed by the taste of the extra-aged cheese: its nutty, full-bodied flavor convinced the Jury to include it in the “Remarkable Products” group, that represents a very high rank in this celebration of world-class culinary specialties.
This new prize adds up to the list of successes that the various agings of the Piave PDO cheese have obtained over the years in many International competitions and contests. As the Piave PDO cheese’s popularity is increasing worldwide, it is reasonable to expect that its list of awards will soon get even longer.
