WILTSHIRE, ENGLAND — Coombe Castle Inc., a premiere British dairy export company, announced they will now be exporting England’s treasured Cornish Blue to the United States.
Cornish Blue was crowned World Champion Cheese at the 2010 World Cheese Awards, one of the largest and most respected cheese competitions around the globe. In 2011 Cornish Blue was just a few votes from making history by winning the World Champion title two years in a row, coming in 2nd instead and receiving the Super Gold award as well as the World’s Best Unpasteurized Cheese award.
Called Cornwall’s answer to Gorgonzola, this velvety soft, sweetly mild, mellow blue has been hand-made on the Stansfield family farm since 2001. Stansfield farm is located in the historic market village of Liskeard, Cornwall, known for its enchanting natural beauty, picturesque coastline and a climate perfect for sustaining the lush, green pastures responsible for Cornish Blue’s unique depth of flavor and enticing aroma.
Cornish Blue is made each day by just two cheesemakers and solely from the fresh milk of Stansfield farm’s own herd of Fresian cows. Each young cheese is carefully wrapped in foil prior to leaving the creamery.
Cornish Blue will be featured at the 2012 Winter Fancy Food Show in San Francisco, CA at both the Coombe Castle and Atalanta Corporation booths.
