Butterball Executive Serves As Committee Chair For The Joint Poultry Industry Safety And Health Council

Raleigh, NC, – Brian Rodgers, director of safety and risk management for Butterball, LLC, has been appointed committee chairman on the Joint Poultry Industry Safety and Health Council. The council is made up of members from the U.S. Poultry & Egg Association, National Chicken Council and National Turkey Federation. As committee chairman, Rodgers will work with the council to continue the development and enforcement of stringent industry safety and health initiatives.
Rodgers has served as a leader in health and safety at Butterball for many years and now brings this experience to the council. Since working with Butterball, Rodgers has been an integral component of the company’s worker safety program, helping the poultry leader achieve five of the highest recognitions from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s Voluntary Protection Program.
“By encouraging safety excellence within our member organizations, we will continue to advance the poultry industry as a whole and tackle the challenges that will help us grow,” says Rodgers. “As a member of the Butterball team, I am proud to be a part of a committee that is leading the charge to support continuous safety performance throughout our industry.”
As committee chairman, Rodgers will promote the importance of providing a safe environment for workers and the importance of incorporating leading safety protocols. In his role thus far, Rodgers has helped the committee develop the poultry industry’s first annual safety recognition program to award facilities with injury and illness rates below the industry average for thee consecutive years.
