SAN FRANCISCO – From the best farms and creameries in the UK countryside comes Britain’s Pilgrims Choice, a line of five new cheeses that were introduced at the Winter Fancy Food Show. These naturally matured cheeses are sold in unique brown parchment packaging, styled to look like something you’d take home from an upscale London farmers’ market.
Pilgrims Choice, one of the top three UK Cheddar brands, relies on discriminating sourcing and expert grading to ensure impeccable quality. The company’s award-winning graders select for perfect body and flavor profile.
Products highlighted at the Fancy Food Show are:
- Londoner Cheddar: The flagship of Britain’s Pilgrims Choice family, Londoner is hand-selected and naturally matured for a minimum of six months. Londoner is a smooth and rich Cheddar that is the perfect “go to” cheese for a variety of needs. It’s irresistible on a grilled cheese sandwich.
- West Country Farmhouse Cheddar: This farmhouse cheese carries the coveted Protected Designation of Origin or PDO badge. The designation proclaims that the region offers inimitable attributes only found in that region and that traditional, time-honored methods of production are used, resulting in exclusive regional products. As a PDO cheese, West Country Farmhouse Cheddar is handmade and matured on a Devon County family farm using traditional production methods. Matured for a minimum of nine months, this Cheddar has an earthy and complex flavor. Pair with fruit and nuts to enjoy the exceptional quality of this cheese.
- Red Leicester: Natural maturing for three to six months gives a rich, mellow, but slightly nutty flavor to this vibrantly colored British classic. Red Leicester can be used in place of Cheddar, melted on top of a baked potato, or paired with a glass of oaky Chardonnay.
- Smoked Cheddar: A mild and creamy Cheddar cheese with delicate undertones of a mouthwatering smoky flavor, this cheese is great on a burger. Or go upscale and pair with salmon for a delicious take on Eggs Benedict.
- Wensleydale with Cranberries: A classic and quintessentially British cheese, it’s delicious and creamy, bursting with succulent, tangy-sweet cranberries. Pair with a biscuit and a cup of tea or enjoy with crackers and your favorite bubbly.
Each of the cheeses above is hand-selected by the Pilgrims Choice expert team of cheese graders who evaluate every cheese on aroma, appearance, body, texture, flavor and time (age) making sure only the best are selected to carry the Britain’s Pilgrims Choice label.
