Best Of Show (And More!) For Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Company

Point Reyes, CA – This morning, on the steps of the California State Capitol Building in Sacramento, Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Company of Marin County was awarded the 2016 California State Fair’s top award: Best in Show Cows’ Milk Cheese for Bay Blue. Additionally, the company’s Original Blue won Gold in the Semi-Soft Cheese Category, Toma won Gold in the California Originals Category and Fresh Mozzarella won Bronze for Soft Cheese. Best of Show is awarded in a finals round of judging where the Gold ribbon winners are re-evaluated, vying to be named ‘best of the best’ out of 169 total entries from 34 separate companies.
“We are over-joyed with this honor for Bay Blue as well as the other cheeses that earned awards this year. Our team has worked diligently on making Bay Blue World-Class and receiving the coveted California Golden Bear trophy is proof that our work continues to be both recognized and celebrated,” said Kuba Hemmerling, Head Cheese Maker. Bob Giacomini, founder of Point Reyes Farmstead agreed, “We are honored beyond belief and are especially thrilled to celebrate this highest of praise right in our own backyard. We are so proud to represent the California artisan cheese community. This is a very special win for all of us.”
