Belle Chevre Celebrates 25 Years Of Making Award-Winning Cheeses

ELKMONT, Ala. — Belle Chevre is proud to announce that 2014 marks its 25th year of crafting the highest quality goat’s milk cheeses in Elkmont, Alabama.  Belle Chevre was artisan before artisan was cool!  While “artisan” is on top trend today in the United States, Belle Chevre has stood the test of time to prove that hand-crafted products are timeless.

Twenty-five years ago, fine artisan cheeses were only found in the high-end, cache cheese shops in the United States.  Belle Chevre’s founder, Liz Parnell, from whom Tasia Malakasis acquired the business, has been quoted as saying, “You couldn’t give goat cheese away in Alabama 15 years ago.”  Today, Belle Chevre’s products are not only found in the cache cheese shops nationally but are even sold in Piggly Wiggly stores across the South.

Belle Chevre has evolved the product line and the brand to keep up with the pace of the increased interest in specialty cheese and in artisan quality products.  Today, the cheeses are still hand-made and hand-packaged and have continued to garner only the highest of praise and accolades.

“I am so honored to herald Belle Chevre through its next stage of evolution and growth,” says Tasia Malakasis, president. “I cannot wait to see what excitement waits for us in our second 25 years – we have a lot up our sleeve.”

Belle Chevre will celebrate their 25th Anniversary throughout the year with the launch of a new website, opening of new retail locations, a cross-country tour entitled, Belle’s Big Adventure, a 10k/5k/Fun Run entitled Running with the Goats on the Richard Martin Rails to Trails, and much more.

“We intend to celebrate in grand style all year long,” says Tasia Malakasis.
