Australian Buffalo Cheese Win Big At International Cheese Awards

The Haldane family still operates in the sheep and prawn industries on the Eyre Peninsula, however their milking buffalo venture in Victoria has seen them win gold, silver and bronze at the International Cheese Awards in England.

The Shaw River Buffalo Cheese won gold, silver and bronze awards in various Australia categories, with the competition attracting more than 5500 entries spanning 50 countries, with 250 judges assessing the efforts of the world’s best cheese makers.

Shaw River Buffalo Cheese general manager and second-generation cheese maker Thea Royal runs the business with father Roger Haldane and said with so many cheeses in the mix at the awards, it was a humbling result to come away with three medals.
