ANAHEIM, Calif. – Vital Farms, creator of the pasture-raised egg category and the largest national producer of pasture-raised eggs in the US, introduced its new grass-fed, pasture-raised, Alfresco Butter, in addition to its line of pasture-raised eggs, at this years’ Natural Products Expo West trade show.
Vital Farms has set the national standard for the welfare of egg-laying hens with a more humane and ethical approach to farming. The Vital Farms birds are healthy, happy and are raised outside on fresh pastures with 108 square feet of rotated pasture per hen. The pasture-raised category signifies a drastic change from the 67 inches (not feet!) provided to caged hens.

Vital Farms is asking consumers to take a pledge to only choose eggs from hens not kept confined in cages as part of a national movement initiated by the Humane Society of the US to bring national attention to the issue of how hens are treated in caged production of eggs. This pledge marks a step in the right direction toward the ultimate goal of a commitment to Certified Humane®, pasture-raised eggs.
Additionally, Vital Farms is now offering customers Alfresco Butter, brought to you from happy cows which are pasture-raised and grass-fed. Alfresco is hand crafted by 5th generation butter makers that slow churn and hand craft the cream producing a butter that is high in butterfat and absolutely delicious, while being hormone and antibiotic free. The cows that produce the cream for Vital’s pasture-raised butter are raised in small herds on American family farms where they (the ‘ladies’) are free to roam their pastures.
