The scoop: Smart Balance has a line of milk enhanced with vitamins and omega-3 fatty acids. There are five varieties: lactose-free, low-fat and three fat-free. All have vitamin E — and some have antioxidants, omega-3s and vitamin C.
The taste: We liked the fat-free varieties, which have a rich and creamy texture — nearly the same as half-and-half. Tasters compared them to 2% milk. The milk averages about 110 calories for a 1-cup serving. Standard fat-free milk has about 90 calories in 1 cup.
The price: 64-ounce cartons are about $3.
