CEDAR KNOLLS, N.J. — Aspiring home cooks from all over the country are competing with their state-inspired recipes for a chance to be named the top recipe in America in the Eggland's Best "America's Best Recipe Contest." Today, Eggland's Best has announced the Southwest semi-finalist recipes that will compete for the title of "Best in Region."

From now through September 19, consumers will help EB determine which Southwestern recipe will be named "Best in Region," and have the chance to win the $10,000 Grand Prize. The impressive Southwest dishes include such recipes as the Cluckin' Bacon Twisted Cristo, Cheesy Pulled Pork Corn Fritters with Barbecue Sauce, and several other nutritious and appetizing dishes.

"The Southwest semi-finalists incorporated their favorite state ingredient into their dishes in creative ways," said Charlie Lanktree, President and CEO of Eggland's Best. "We hope these delicious dishes inspire people to create their own recipes to enjoy while getting the health benefits of EB eggs. With 25 percent less saturated fat and 5 times more vitamin D than ordinary eggs, Eggland's Best eggs are an easy way to elevate the nutrition of any recipe."

The Southwestern recipes highlight ingredients such as Texas beef, Ancho Peppers from Arizona, and Missouri Provel Cheese. The "Best in Region" Southwest semi-finalists include:

The Grand Prize winner will be awarded $10,000 and a year's supply of Eggland's Best eggs, "Best in Region" winners will receive $1,000 each, and State winners will receive prizes from Eggland's Best.

"I am so grateful to have been named the winner of the 2014 Eggland's Best "Your Best Recipe" Contest, and with such a delicious lineup of competitors, can't wait to see who will win this year's contest," says Lidia Haddadian of California who entered and won with her Chorizo Tostada Bites in 2014. "As a long-time loyal fan, I know that Eggland's Best eggs are simply superior in nutrition, freshness and taste, and I hope that people will be as excited as I am to try these extraordinary regional recipes."

Compared to regular eggs, Eggland's Best eggs contain 25 percent less saturated fat, five times more vitamin D, more than double the Omega-3s, ten times more vitamin E and three times more vitamin B12.  Eggland's Best's superior nutritional profile is due to its proprietary all-vegetarian hen feed that contains healthy grains, canola oil and a wholesome supplement of rice bran, alfalfa, sea kelp and Vitamin E.  In addition, a recent independent study showed that Eggland's Best eggs stay fresher longer than ordinary eggs.
