RICHMOND, Vt. – The state released a new economic assessment of the role of the dairy industry in Vermont. It puts some hard numbers behind Vermont's top agriculture product.
The new study highlights the value of Vermont's dairy industry. The state has not had such a report done since 2005. It was funded by the Vermont Dairy Promotion council.
Dairy brings $2.2 billion in economic activity to Vermont each year. Dairy accounts for more than 70 percent of Vermont's agricultural sales and there is more.
