ST. LOUIS, Missouri – St. Louis Rams kicker Josh Brown will team up with the Midwest Dairy Council for a Fuel Up to Play 60 activity break at the Missouri Dietetic Association Annual Conference on Thursday, April 19 from 10:30-11:00 a.m. at the Hilton St. Louis Frontenac, 1335 S. Lindbergh Blvd. Brown's visit brings Fuel Up to Play 60 program awareness to 150 registered dietitians in attendance at the conference.
Fuel Up to Play is an in-school nutrition and physical activity program launched by the National Dairy Council and National Football League, in collaboration with the United States Department of Agriculture. The program, in which more than 70,000 schools nationwide and more than 1,800 schools across Missouri are enrolled, encourages youth to consume nutrient-rich foods, including low-fat and fat-free dairy foods, fruits, vegetables and whole grains, and to achieve at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day.
During the break, Brown will lead a physical activity demonstration with HOPSports, an interactive training system that is rewarded to schools active with Fuel Up to Play 60. He’ll also talk about the positive impact healthy eating and physical activity make on a child’s well-being, as well as on his success on the field. Joining Brown will be dairy farmer Donna Telle from Uniontown, Missouri. She will represent dairy farmers’ long-standing commitment to child health and wellness.
The activity break is a part of Midwest Dairy’s sponsorship of the conference and highlights their collaboration with the Missouri Dietetic Association on child health and wellness initiatives, including Fuel Up to Play 60. “It takes teamwork to tackle childhood obesity,” says Stephanie Cundith, registered dietitian with Midwest Dairy. “By showcasing Fuel Up to Play 60’s unique ability to make adopting healthy habits fun, while helping youth make a difference in their schools, we hope to generate greater involvement of dietitians in the program, thus building a larger and stronger team.”

Fuel Up to Play 60 is designed to engage and empower youth to take action for their own health by implementing long-term, positive changes for themselves and their schools.
