PORTLAND, MAINE — It’s that time of year again! Oakhurst’s new delicious seasonal Buttered Rum Egg Nog is now available in stores across New England. This rich, creamy classic winter drink boasts a buttery butterscotch flavor combined with cinnamon that is tasty served warm or cold. The Buttered Rum Egg Nog joins the company’s existing line up of seasonal beverages, which includes the popular Chocolate Nog as well as its Egg Nog and Light Egg Nog for the flavor traditionalists. All Oakhurst seasonal beverages are free of high fructose corn syrup. The Buttered Rum Egg Nog will only be available in pints and quarts during the holiday season. For more information visit: www.oakhurstdairy.com.
The arrival of Oakhurst’s seasonal beverages also marks the beginning of the company’s annual holiday fundraising tradition of donating five cents ($.05) to The Salvation Army for every container of egg nog sold. This year represents the 14th consecutive year of this tradition. To date, Oakhurst Dairy has donated more than $220,000 to The Salvation Army through this annual effort, which equates to more than four million containers of egg nog sold.
“Oakhurst Dairy has been a long time friend and supporter of The Salvation Army, stated Major James LaBossiere, Divisional Commander for The Salvation Army. “We are grateful for our partnership and Oakhurst's commitment to assisting us so that we may help others less fortunate.”
LaBossiere continued: “We rely greatly on the funds raised through thispromotion and, as a result, we are able to offer services and programs formen, women and children in need throughout Northern New England.”
Tastings and Samplings
For those who want to get a taste of the new Buttered Rum Egg Nog, Oakhurst plans to sample its new product at several Maine and New Hampshire community holiday events including parades, festivals and tree lightings. For sampling event details, check the Oakhurst Facebook page as the holiday season gets underway.
“Last December, we asked our Facebook community which new egg nog flavor they would most like to see us make and the resounding response was the Buttered Rum – more than 40 percent. So we got to work and are excited to add this new flavor to our seasonal offerings this year,” said Bill Bennett, Chairman of the Board, Oakhurst Dairy.
Bennett continued: “And, every year we look forward to our annual Egg Nog fundraising campaign to benefit The Salvation Army. By adding new and delicious flavors to our growing line of seasonal beverages, it’s our hope that we will not only bring a little joy to many during this holiday season but also increase our fundraising efforts to support the important work of The Salvation Army.”
