Milk production in North Dakota during July, August and September totaled 98 million pounds, up 2.1 percent from the third quarter in 2009.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture says the average number of milk cows in North Dakota during the quarter stood at 21,000, down 1,000 from a year earlier but equal to the previous quarter.
Milk produced per cow was 4,670 pounds, up from 4,350 pounds last year and 4,625 pounds the previous quarter.
