Kalona Cheese Factory Future Uncertain

The future of Kalona's Twin County Dairy Inc., also known as the Kalona Cheese Factory, is murky.

Owners and employees of the dairy, which produces cheese and contains a popular cheese shop, are in discussions with Proliant Dairy in Ankeny about whether Twin County Dairy will remain open, said Jeff Staton, human resources director of Proliant.

Twin County Dairy is a joint venture between its co-owners, John and Joanne Roetlin, and Proliant, Staton said.
