The latest national farm figures show milk production in Idaho continues to increase.
For the month of August, Gem State dairies produced a total of 1.15 billion pounds, up slightly from 1.12 reported in July and 7.8 percent more than August 2009.
The National Agricultural Statistics Service also reported growth in the number of milk cows around the state. Last month, Idaho dairy farmers reported an average of 573,000 cows, up 4,000 from July and 25,000 during the same period a year ago.
