OAKLAND — Everyone's a winner when they join the fight against childhood cancer throughout Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Washington DC, Maine, Maryland and Virginia. On Saturday, May 1, the EDY'S brand and Stop & Shop/Giant Food stores are partnering on a special Triple Winner fundraising day that will benefit local cancer research centers.
Ice cream cups are a great snack anytime, but on May 1 you can enjoy them free while donating to Triple Winner charities. Donate $1 and receive a free EDY'S, HAAGEN-DAZS or THE SKINNY COW ice cream cup. Donate $3 and you'll receive the free cup and a limited edition Triple Winner keepsake.
Additionally, scoop up your favorite cup flavors between April 16 and June 10, 2010, and the EDY'S brand will donate 5 cents for every EDY'S, HAAGEN-DAZS and THE SKINNY COW cup purchased to Triple Winner charities. Stop & Shop and Giant will donate 100% of the money raised during this event to benefit the Triple Winner charities providing children's cancer research and treatment. Proceeds from New England area Stop & Shop stores benefit The Jimmy Fund while New York and New Jersey stores' proceeds go to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Giant stores' proceeds will benefit The Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins Medicine and The Children's Cancer Foundation.
"Since 2006, the EDY'S brand has helped raised over $400,000 for children's cancer research with the help of caring people through its partnership with Stop & Shop/Giant Stores. This year, we hope to raise even more than previous years with the community's help. We urge everyone to come in to their local Stop & Shop on May 1 and join us in the fight against childhood cancer by donating to Triple Winner charities," said Brian Murray, Account Director for the EDY'S brand.
"We are proud to partner with the EDY'S brand and Stop & Shop as this campaign represents the heart of the communities embracing our children," said Paul A. Meyers, Vice Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. "With their support, our researchers can continue to develop new ways to make childhood cancer treatment more effective for each child we treat."
