Guida's Milk has prided itself on local family ownership for decades, as its competitors consolidate into national and regional powerhouses.
Family ownership has been the heart of the New Britain company's message on its website, in its marketing materials, even on telephone voice mail, which says to callers, "Thank you for calling Guida's Milk, your local family dairy provider."
Now Guida's has sold itself to a national co-operative of dairy farmers based in Kansas City. But the message won't have to change much, said Jim Guida, the senior family member at the company — because, he said, the dairy processor with roots that go back 126 years is not changing at all.
