EYOTA, Minn. — The three-person panel that choses Minnesota's Milk Producers of the Year doesn't have an easy job.
The panelists complained good-naturedly to Bob Lefebvre, executive director of Minnesota Milk Producers Association, saying their job isn't getting any easier. The secret slate of individuals who have a good, strong, diverse background in dairy select from the top three applications for Minnesota's Milk Producers of the Year, Lefebvre said.
Associate members of MMPA are given the opportunity to nominate someone for producer of the year, Lefebvre said. Associate members are those within the dairy industry who support the work of Minnesota Milk, he said.
Dairy producers who are nominated are asked to complete an application, which is reviewed by the membership committee. The panel is composed of dairy producers and others within the industry who support Minnesota Milk, Lefebvre said. The committee whittles the list of applications down to 10 for the board of directors to review.
