Eggland's Best Wins 2014 Product Of The Year

CEDAR KNOLLS, N.J. — After calculating more than 40,000 consumer votes, Product of the Year USA has announced Eggland's Best eggs as "Product of the Year."

Product of the Year is the world's largest consumer-voted award program for innovation in consumer products and has served as a shortcut for consumers to pick the best products, saving them time and money.

"At Eggland's Best, we provide consumers the best egg available and are thrilled to be recognized as 'Product of the Year,'" said Charles T. Lanktree, President and CEO of Eggland's Best. "Consumers can feel confident knowing Eggland's Best eggs not only taste great, but are also superior in nutrition and freshness when compared to other eggs."

As a result of a strict quality assurance program and proprietary all-vegetarian hen feed, Eggland's Best eggs contain 25 percent less saturated fat, 10 times the vitamin E, four times the amount of vitamin D and more than double the omega-3 fatty acids than ordinary eggs. In addition, a recent independent study published in The Journal of Applied Poultry Research concluded that Eggland's Best is the leader in egg freshness and Eggland's Best eggs stay fresher longer.

"For the past six years, consumers have voted on which products they trust and feel are the most innovative in their categories," said Mike Nolan, Global CEO for Product of the Year. "With Eggland's Best's unique hen feed and production process, it's exciting that consumers across the United States voted Eggland's Best as their top pick in the egg category."

Product of the Year USA honored Eggland's Best and 23 other category winners at their annual ceremony on February 11th at the Edison Ballroom in New York City. Other categories included beverages, personal care and household care.

About Product of the Year
Product of the Year is the only consumer product award that rewards innovation and is voted on by real consumers. Established 26 years ago in France, POY currently operates in 32 countries with the same purpose: Guide consumers to the best products in their market and reward manufacturers for quality and innovation. Backed by the votes of 40,000 consumers, the distinct red POY logo serves as shortcut for shoppers in the supermarket, saving them time and money. For manufacturers of the winning products, the award is a powerful marketing message proven to increase retail distribution and sales by an average of 10-15%. Product of the Year accepts entries every year from consumer packaged goods that demonstrate innovation and were launched within the previous year. Entered products are then placed into specific categories such as food, beverages, personal care, household care, etc. with a product then being chosen as a winner in its category through a nationally representative online study.
