Edaleen Dairy of Lynden recently received a high score from a third-party audit for its manufacturing and food safety practices.
The dairy's milk processing plant received a score of 98.4 percent on the audit the company requested for itself. The audit focused on several key areas: food safety, quality control, sanitation, building and equipment, as well as employee practices. It was preformed by Silliker, Inc., Food Safety & Quality Solutions.
Established in 1975, Edaleen Dairy is a privately owned company employing about 80 people. The business includes a dairy farm, production plant, and a retail store. The farm has a closed herd of approximately 4,500 Holstein cows. The milk is processed and distributed by the plant. In addition to several distributors, the retail store offers milk, ice cream, and other convenience products to its customers.
