Dairy Farmers across the province are being asked to increase their milk production in order to keep up with the rising demand for dairy products.
Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Chair David Wiens tells 680 CJOB there’s currently a strong demand for butter and cheese in Manitoba and across the country.
“There has been a constant demand for butter recently. I think with butter being a natural food product, consumers are more interested in using natural foods than they have been in the past. Cheese as well. There are over 800 different kinds of cheeses made in the country. Some of the demand is coming for specialty cheese and some for cheese used on pizza,” says Wiens.
