Darigold’s Fresh Magazine Named Top Corporate Marketing Campaign Of The Year

Seattle, WA – The International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP) has announced that Darigold Fresh magazine, “Connecting our Farmers to our Customers,” has claimed the top honor for Corporate Marketing Campaign of the Year in its Awards of Excellence program.

An international judging committee selected Darigold Fresh for the award, which honors the most innovative, creative and successful marketing campaign launched in 2009.

The prize-winning issue is the second in a series of Fresh magazines; premium 8-1/2- by 11-inch publications featuring lush full-color photography on high-quality glossy paper. Its 74 pages of content include mouthwatering recipes and personal insights from some of the Northwest’s premier chefs, intriguing articles about Darigold farmer owners and dairy cattle breeds, and money-saving coupons.

The limited-edition magazine was distributed to the food service industry and the dairy industry commission, and was also made available to customers for a small fee through venues such as free-standing inserts, point-of-sale tear sheets, Facebook and the www.darigold.com website. Jan Roberts, Senior Product Manager at Darigold, oversaw the project.

“We received such great reviews from the Fresh Volume I magazine we were eager to create a second issue,” says Roberts. “Our food service customers have found a huge benefit of being able to incorporate many of the recipes into the menus in their operations. When we published Fresh Volume II, the magazine needed no introduction. People came to our booth at tradeshows anxious to get the next volume of Fresh.”

While the company didn’t enter Fresh in the IACP competition last year, they couldn’t resist after a second year of success. “I think a lot of different circumstances make it so popular,” says Roberts. “Including the departure from a traditional recipe booklet format and the increased interest in buying local. Our farmer-owned story fits in so well with that. Also, the upscale quality of the publication reflected well on the Darigold brand while the content stayed true to the company’s origins and our farmer owners.”

Past recipients of this honor have included Cuisinart, Bacardi, KitchenAid and the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association. This year’s awards will be presented on April 24, 2010 at the Awards Gala ceremony held in conjunction with the Annual Conference of the IACP in Portland, Oregon.
