Winnipeg's Executive Policy Committee approved the sale of city-owned land in the St. Boniface Industrial Park to Parmalat Canada Inc., Wednesday morning, for the expansion of a new milk processing plant.

The deal still has to go before council Wednesday in the last council meeting before their summer break. Tuesday, Winnipeg Public Service recommended that council approve the sale.

The plant at the new site would would replace the current aging facility in St. Boniface. There is a time constraint on the deal the city said in a press release, explaining that Parmalat is under a time crunch to start construction.
