Cabot's Reward Volunteers Continues To Recognize & Honor Volunteers Across The US

Cabot, Vt. – After another busy month of volunteer activity, Cabot Creamery Cooperative, the farm family owned dairy cooperative widely known as the makers of the “World’s Best Cheddar,” is announcing the most recent round of Reward Volunteers winners. 16 selfless volunteers and one nonprofit organization will be rewarded with a variety of prizes, including a $500 donation, artisan cheese baskets, gift cards, a year’s supply of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream and two different Vermont vacation getaways.

“We are extremely proud of this month’s winners,” says Jen Neary, Cabot Director of Marketing, Integrated Services, “who come from states all across the country. Their efforts help protect, enrich and uplift the lives of the animals, children and adults of their communities. Our goal for Reward Volunteers is to thank and honor those who give so much of their lives to helping others, and simultaneously inspire more people to become volunteers.”

One organization that shares a similar mission of getting people involved in volunteer activity, and who also encourages their members to use Reward Volunteers, is New York Cares. “New York Cares is NYC’s largest volunteer management organization, running vital programs for 1,300 nonprofits, public schools and city agencies to help people in need throughout the five boroughs, and does so at no cost to the recipient organizations,” says Erica Plofsky, Community and Media Relations Manager for New York Cares. “Since 1987, New York Cares has made it easy for all New Yorkers to work together to strengthen the city; last year, we provided critical services to more than 400,000 at-risk individuals.” New York Cares received a $500 donation from Reward Volunteers last month, which was directly due to the participation of its members.

Reward Volunteers launched in February of 2012. Since then, the program has grown every month, and given away thousands of dollars in cash and prizes to deserving volunteers and volunteer organizations. Reward Volunteers 5.0, the fifth iteration of the revolutionary iPhone app and web widget, has already seen more than 4,900 acts of kindness, generosity, and community support – totaling more than 25,000 hours – logged by individuals in service of non-profit organizations across the country.

The Reward Volunteers iPhone App and web widget from Cabot Creamery Cooperative enables individuals and organizations to track the time they spend volunteering in their communities, post to Facebook, and earn rewards for themselves and the organizations they serve. At the end of each month, Cabot rewards volunteers for their hard work, and for inspiring friends and family to do the same, with a variety of prizes. The more hours volunteers log, the more chances to win. Participation is absolutely free.

One of this month’s Reward Volunteers winners is Becky Eggers, a volunteer at Priceless Pets Rescue located in Chino Hills, California. “My family and I foster for Priceless Pets. They are a nonprofit, no-kill animal facility that rescues, rehabilitates and finds forever homes for unwanted cats and dogs. They are run solely on donations from our supporters and volunteers.  We have been lucky enough to help several litters of puppies in the six months we've been fostering for them. Thank you Reward Volunteers for the Vermont Vacation to Emergo Farms; my family and I would still volunteer even without the rewards, but it is definitely nice to be recognized with such a great prize.”

The prize list has grown for Reward Volunteers 5.0, and includes:
